Civil Wedding
A Civil Wedding is a Legal ceremony performed by a civil judge, this type of ceremony changes your marital status from single to married in Mexico. The Marriage Certificate which is issued as a result of this act is recognized by most of the countries with an apostil.
Documentation required for each participant in a Civil Marriage Ceremony in Mexico:
- Valid original passports and photocopies for bride and groom. (IFE for Mexican citizens)
- Driver´s license
- Mexican Tourist card (provided by customs upon arrival to Cancun)
- Prenuptial blood exam and certificate has to be done in Mexico.
These two requirements need to have your official names on it. - Four witnesses, 2 for the groom and 2 for the bride, they cannot be your own parents.
(All witnesses must have original passport and tourist card.)
Mayan or Spiritual
Is a spiritual ceremony performed by a Xaman to be in touch with nature and the four elements: fire, earth, air and water. The Xaman will ask permission to the local guardians to invoke the presence of the Mayan Gods to create a perfect environment of harmony and protection. At the altar the four elements are represented by flowers, fruits, vegetables, seeds, liquor and fire that symbolizes the abundance, the union and the commitment that is established between the pair.
